Environmental, Health and Safety Officer/Specialist: all percentages are how the much time the previous employee spent on these activities.

  • Complete ownership of the Environmental, Health and Safety Management System CONTINUAL (30%)
    1. Ensures facility conformance with ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 standards
    2. Plans, develops, implements, and maintains the EHS management systems
    3. Manages control of documents and records for the EHS management systems
    4. Team leader on the EHS management systems as well as management representative
    5. Manages the EHS management systems programs and plans of designated environmental aspects and health and safety hazards that includes performance tracking of objectives and goals
    6. Develop, implement, and update facility wide environmental health and safety programs including hazard communication, MSDS Management, lockout/tagout, hazardous/solid waste and other required programs
  • Safety Officer ONGOING and AS REQUIRED (15%)
    1. Perform incident investigations within 24 hours of incident; statistics show about 2-3 incidents a month
    2. Investigate from start to finish who, what, when, why, where, and address corrective action/preventive action if needed, any training needed, etc.
    3. Job hazard analyses and hazard assessments as required
    4. New equipment, new line, or an event that requires for it to occur; incident with machinery that requires training to address corrective action
  • EHS Training MONTHLY (15%)
    1. Conducts and facilitates facility wide/departmental training once a month (Emergency Action Plan, Electrical and Office Safety, Bloodborne Pathogens, Spill Control and Response, etc. etc. etc., about 10-15 more disciplines)
    2. Compiling material to gain competency in order to conducts the training
    3. Scheduling training facility or department wide for those personnel affect in a way that it maintains facility productivity in all operations
    4. Conduct assessment of all personnel involved to test for competency
  • Manages the Nonhazardous, Hazardous, and Universal waste program QUARTERLY and AS REQUIRED (10%)
  1. Manages all waste that needs to be dispositioned with the proper waste stream
  2. Coordinate Universal and Hazardous Waste disposal once a quarter with respective waste company
  3. Performance tracking of all waste sent to the landfill for performance tracking of facility environmental objectives and goals
  4. Manages all recycling that needs to be handled with respective companies
  5. Coordinate recycling to be sent out or picked up as needed
  6. Performance tracking of all recycling sent for performance tracking of facility environmental objectives and goals
  • Manages the recycling program and other green initiatives and projects ONGOING and AS REQUIRED (10%)
  • Management Representative for company and external interested parties for all EHS matters AS REQUIRED (10%)
    1. Main source of communication with external interested parties (local, state, and federal agencies, customers, clients)
    2. Once a year during scheduled surveillance or recertification audits from outside agencies/companies
    3. As required during unscheduled audits and inspections from outside agencies/companies
  • Presides over the EHS Steering Committee Meetings MONTHLY (5%)
    1. Comprised of top management, managers and supervisors from each department, about 10-15 in attendance
    2. Usually lasts from 45-60 minutes depending on the information discussed; key projects, notifications, open forum for hot topics
    3. Plan and discuss EHS initiatives and projects, incident investigation, EHS objectives and goals performance tracking, scheduled training, EHS Management Systems Internal Audit Schedule
  • Facility EHS Compliance Audit MONTHLY (5%)
    1. Usually lasts from 60-90 minutes depending on the number of violations found on any given day; addressing of immediate corrective and preventive action
    2. Log all violations and observances on a report, email to top management, managers and supervisors to address all items and discuss during EHS Steering Committee meeting
