The speaker will be Keith Bradley of KBA EnviroScience Ltd. His presentation will be “TRRP Ecological Risk Assessments – An Overview and Update”. His presentation will provide an overview of the TRRP Ecological Risk Assessment (ERA) process, describe how the ERA fits into the site remediation and closure process, and provides an insight on the upcoming TRRP-15E TCEQ guidance document “Determining Representative Concentrations”.

Mr. Bradley is the Principal at KBA EnviroScience Ltd. He has a BS in Biology and MS in Environmental Science, with 35 years environmental experience, including 7 years at USEPA Region 6 and 26 years in consulting. He has performed TRRP ERAs for projects throughout Texas for a wide variety of contaminants and media. He presently serves on a TCEQ Stakeholder Committee to develop the TRRP-15E guidance document.

Annual Household Hazardous Waste Day

September 27th, 2011

The City of Irving will be holding their annual household hazardous waste collection day on Sat Nov 12 at Irving Mall from 9am to 3 pm. The CHMM chapter in the past has assisted with the collection of wastes in the oil tent. Lunch and PPE are provided for volunteers. There are two shifts – 9am to noon and noon to 3 pm. Please let Diana (Lundelius.Diana@epamail.epa.gov) know if you plan to help out by Oct 28 if you plan to participate. The speaker will be fellow CHMM Craig Pritzlaff of Curran Tomko Tarski LLP. His presentation will be “Environmental Compliance Lessons Learned Part II: If a Tree Falls into a Leaky Landfill, Does Anyone Have to Pay?” His talk will focus on the liabilities and risks generators face when sending wastes for off-site treatment or disposal. The presentation will discuss particular case examples, the law itself, and lessons learned. Craig Pritzlaff’s law practice focuses on environmental law and litigation. Mr. Pritzlaff’s legal experience is supplemented by his prior professional experience as a regulator with state, local, and federal agencies, including the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, where he was selected as Employee of the Year in 1998, the City of Austin, and the U.S. Department of Energy.

June Meeting Notice

The Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of the Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers (ACHMM) will hold its next meeting on Thursday June 23, 2011, at 6:00 pm. This meeting will include an aircraft maintenance hangar operated by American Airlines at DFW International Airport.

The hangar tour will be led by Charles Fisher from American Airlines. The tour will highlight the aircraft maintenance activities performed at DFW and the associated environmental issues. Chuck Fisher is the AA DFW Lead Environmental Coordinator, with over 33 years experience in the airline industry. His airline career moved into regulatory compliance in 1997, with TWA’s Corporate Safety, as Supervisor, Hazardous Materials Transportation compliance. He was hired in 2001 by AA, as a Security and Environmental Officer, overseeing compliance pertaining to passenger security checkpoints (then under the FAA), Hazardous Materials Transportation, and airport Environmental Compliance. He was appointed in 2003, as the St. Louis station, Lead Environmental Coordinator. He has been in his current position at DFW, since 2005.

The Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of the Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers (ACHMM) will hold its next meeting on Thursday April 28th, 2011, at 6:00 pm. Our meeting this month will be at American Airlines Headquarters Office.

The speaker will be Daphne Economou from Liaise Environmental on the topic of recent changes to air regulations at the federal level and in Texas.

Daphne Economou is an environmental consulting engineer with over 20 years experience in air quality related projects. She is founder and President of Liaise Environmental Inc., a Dallas based air-consulting company, where she has served as principal consultant and project manager since 1996. She has worked on a wide variety of air quality projects for numerous industrial facilities located in 19 states, and has experience in chemical manufacturing, oil and gas exploration and production, wood products, paper, energy, coatings and food processing. She holds a B.S. in Chemistry from City College of New York and an M.S. in Environmental Interdisciplinary Studies, with a minor in civil engineering, from the UTA. She is a licensed environmental Professional Engineer registered in the state of Texas and holds a certificate of Hazardous Materials Management from UTA. Daphne currently serves as a Director for the North Texas Chapter of Air & Waste Management Assn.
